One of the most beautiful aspects of our faith is that every day offers the possibility of a new beginning. No matter what yesterday held - failures, regrets, missed opportunities - today is a fresh start. "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22-23).
God is the God of new beginnings. He parted the Red Sea to give Israel a new start. He gave David a new beginning after devastating moral failure. He transformed Saul the persecutor into Paul the apostle. He provides new beginnings for all who come to Him.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). In Christ, you're not just reformed or improved - you're a completely new creation. The past doesn't define you; Christ does.
But embracing new beginnings requires letting go of the past. Many people stay stuck because they won't release what was - either clinging to past glories or drowning in past failures. Paul modeled the right approach: "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal" (Philippians 3:13-14).
What new beginning is God offering you? Maybe it's freedom from an addiction, healing in a relationship, a fresh start in your career, or a renewed spiritual passion. Don't let fear or past failure keep you from receiving it.
Today is a new day. His mercies are new this morning. Whatever yesterday held, set it aside. Step into the fresh start God offers. The past is closed; the future is open. Begin again.
