We live in a world of broken promises. Politicians campaign on pledges they don't keep. Businesses guarantee things they can't deliver. Even friends and family sometimes fail to follow through. Disappointment is woven into the fabric of human experience.
But God is different. "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?" (Numbers 23:19). Every promise God has made, He has kept or will keep. His track record is flawless.
Think about God's faithfulness throughout Scripture. He promised Abraham descendants as numerous as the stars - fulfilled. He promised to deliver Israel from Egypt - fulfilled. He promised a Savior who would crush the serpent's head - gloriously fulfilled in Christ.
When you face circumstances that make God's promises seem impossible, remember: He specializes in the impossible. He parted the Red Sea, fed millions in the wilderness, raised the dead, and conquered the grave. Your situation is not beyond Him.
God's faithfulness also spans generations. "Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations" (Deuteronomy 7:9). His faithfulness to you is connected to His faithfulness throughout history.
What promise are you waiting on God to fulfill? A prodigal returning? Healing? Provision? Restoration? Hold on. He who promised is faithful. His timing is perfect, His methods are often surprising, but His faithfulness is guaranteed.
Take heart today in the One who has never broken a promise and never will.
