Divine Appointments: Seeing God in Everyday Encounters

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
Acts 2:42
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

Every day is filled with divine appointments - people placed in our path by a sovereign God for reasons we may not understand. The stranger in line behind you, the coworker who stops by your desk, the neighbor you pass while checking the mail - each could be a God-ordained encounter.

Jesus modeled divine appointment awareness. His life was full of interruptions that became ministry moments. The woman at the well, Zacchaeus in the tree, the woman caught in adultery - each encounter seemed random but was providentially orchestrated.

But seeing divine appointments requires spiritual eyes. When we're rushed and self-focused, we miss the people around us. When we're distracted by phones and to-do lists, we overlook the ones God wants us to notice.

How can we become more attuned to divine appointments? Start each day asking God to open your eyes to the people He places in your path. Slow down enough to actually see people. Make eye contact. Ask genuine questions. Listen attentively.

Also, be ready to respond. Peter encouraged us to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have" (1 Peter 3:15). Divine appointments often involve opportunities to share our faith or demonstrate God's love.

Remember, every person has a story, needs compassion, and matters to God. You might be the answer to someone's prayer today. You might speak the word that changes everything for them.

Today, watch for divine appointments. Expect them. Embrace them. You never know how a simple conversation or act of kindness might impact eternity.
